Difference between an Agent and Broker
You will probably deal with an agent or broker during your rental search. So it is better to know who they are and what they do in a Real Estate market.
Real Estate Agent
A real estate agent is a step below a real estate broker. Anyone who is licensed to sell a property is called an agent. However, you need a real estate license to be an agent. An agent cannot work independently and he or she works under a broker.
Real Estate Broker
A real estate broker has more authority and education than an agent. A broker can work independently and hire agents to work for him. Broker’s license is tougher to get as compared to salesperson’s license. A broker has experience of an agent and he/she can own a real estate firm. A broker can become an agent but an agent can’t.
Whether you are dealing with an agent or a broker, every real estate worker must have a copy of their real estate license, so keep an eye on that before you choose one to work with.
