Every borough in NYC has its own unique brand of culture. Still, many say that Manhattan’s eclectic mix of attractions, exciting nightlife, and excellent restaurants just can’t be beaten.

There are so many things to do in Manhattan for people of all interests. (Too many to list here, in fact!) So, for the sake of brevity, we’ve chosen a few of our favorite must-see spots for your next trip to Manhattan!

Indulge in the Arts

The island of Manhattan is home to a broad array of historical art institutions. Whether you’re interested in taking in a show on Broadway, immersing yourself in modern or classic art, or enjoying a night out at the opera or the ballet, there’s something for every taste.

Hit Koreatown for Karaoke

It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned singer or can’t carry a tune in a bucket; karaoke with friends is always fun, and Koreatown has some of the best spots to belt out the ballads. A good time for all is guaranteed when you follow up with some late-night Korean food at any time (open until 3:30 AM on Fridays and Saturdays).

Go on a Leisurely Picnic

Only in Manhattan is a picnic an event worthy of your bucket list! Run by Premier Deli Cafe for a Reuben sandwich, then stroll on over to Central Park for some natural beauty and epic people watching.

While you’re there, be sure to take a look at the gorgeous Manhattan apartments that border the park. Many are famous for their tenants, but you’ll also find fascinating historical gems like the Osborne. Built in 1883, it’s listed on the National Historic Registry as the second oldest apartment building in NYC.

Visit the 9/11 Memorial & Museum

The 9/11 memorial is a fascinating look into one of the most tragic events in U.S. history, and no trip to Manhattan would be complete without checking it out.

The professionally-led tours take visitors through the museum and the memorial, each focusing on specific elements of the story. You’ll hear individual stories and learn about the chain of events leading up to the attacks. Artifacts are also displayed in the museum to tell the story from the different perspectives of those impacted.

Afterward, head across the street and check out the Oculus at the World Trade Center. The architectural marvel was built at ground zero and is the third-largest transportation hub in the city. Inside the terminal, you’ll find a shopping mall and restaurants. It also hosts a rotating schedule of events such as farmer’s markets, live music, and more.

Enjoy Drinks with a View at The Press Lounge

Don your Sunday best, grab your sweetheart, and head to this rooftop bar for the most romantic date night ever! You’ll enjoy stunning 360 views of Manhattan and the Hudson River from inside and outside the bar. The Press Lounge offers small bites and a fabulous menu of seasonal wines and cocktails to compliment that gorgeous view.

Take a Candlelight Catacomb Tour

Suppose you like your tourism with a side of strange and macabre? In that case, you’ll definitely want to check out the catacombs beneath the Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral! Take a 90-minute candlelight walking tour to learn about the fascinating history of the Old Cathedral and the famous inhabitants of its graveyard and underground catacombs.

Spend a Day (or More) at the Natural History Museum

Let’s be honest, one day isn’t nearly enough time to check out every fantastic exhibit in the world-famous American Museum of Natural History! It’s the perfect place to get lost for those interested in biology, geology, astronomy, or virtually any other “onomy” you can think of. The children’s exhibits are second to none, too.

Catch a Knicks Game

Or a concert, or hockey game, or any of the seemingly endless event options at Madison Square Garden. Rich in history, the Garden first opened its doors in 1879 and has hosted sold-out performances from some of the most famous artists in the world.

Check Out The Morgan Library & Museum

Founded by Pierpont Morgan (as in J.P. Morgan), this impressive attraction is home to hundreds of manuscripts, paintings, books, and photographs from all corners of the globe.

You’ll find original sheet music written by Mozart, Rembrandt etchings, and original literary collections. You’re sure to be amazed by the treasures housed here, from medieval and renaissance pieces to modern and contemporary works.

Visit the Empire State Building

No trip to NYC would be complete without watching the sunrise from the building’s 102nd-floor observatory! (If you’re not an early bird, the sunset is just as majestic.) In addition to the two panoramic observatories, the world-famous building’s must-see exhibits are a huge draw for tourists and locals alike.

If all that touring makes you peckish, there are plenty of places in the building to stop for a bite, and don’t forget to grab a souvenir from the shop before you go!

Welcome to Manhattan!

While there are so many things to see and do, Manhattan is a great place to chill and take in the city, too. Whether you choose to take a whirlwind tour or park it on a park bench and feed the pigeons, you’re sure to join the thousands of people around the world who’ve fallen in love with the borough of Manhattan!
