Spring is an excellent time to get outside. When the weather warms up, it’s easy to lose interest in activities like hiking and biking because they are no longer practical or comfortable. But springtime is the perfect opportunity to get active again with these simple outdoor activities:

Go To The Beach

There are numerous reasons to visit the beach this spring. It’s not just for relaxing, although that’s one of them. The beach is great for biking, running (or walking), and playing games in the sand like Frisbee, golf, or volleyball.

There are numerous activities to choose from at the beach, but here are a few of our favorites:

  • Go for a walk on the beach
  • Build a sandcastle
  • Go for a swim in the ocean
  • Make some art with shells and other beach items

Enjoy a Bike Ride

If you want to get out and appreciate nature but don’t want to give up your time in front of a computer screen, bike riding is a terrific option! Biking can be an excellent form of exercise and also helps you connect with nature.

Here are some tips for enjoying this springtime sport:

  • Find a bike that is the proper size for your body type. If it’s too big or small, then it won’t be comfortable for long rides (or at all). You’ll also want one that has brakes on both wheels so that if one fails, there’s still another functioning brake left over.
  • Wear protective gear like helmets and knee pads when riding – especially if there are steep hills involved! This will help keep injuries at bay while also keeping things safe during accidents; just remember, never go without them!

Try A New Sports

It’s a great time to try something new now that the weather has warmed up. If you’ve always wanted to try a sport but haven’t known where or how to begin, now is your chance!

Here are some ideas for sports that are easy on your wallet and fun for everyone:

  • Basketball – You can find basketball courts almost anywhere in the city, and even though it might seem intimidating at first, it really isn’t as hard as people think (just ask LeBron).

Furthermore, because there are so many players in this game at the same time, it is easier than ever for beginners like yourself!

  • Bowling – Bowling has been around since ancient times, so there must be something special about it, right? Well yes!

This sport combines fun competition with good food – you get all these benefits without needing much equipment either, which makes them super affordable too!

Add Some Greenery To Your Yard Or Garden

This is a great way to add color, life, and beauty to your outdoor space. Plant a vegetable garden. With this, you can grow some of your own food while saving money!

You’ll also be helping the environment by lowering the number of pesticides used in commercial farming operations, resulting in better air for everyone.

Just make sure you’re aware of any local food-growing regulations before embarking on this project, such as whether there are any restrictions on what kinds of plants can be grown in certain areas (such as near schools or playgrounds).

Make sure you have all the right tools and equipment for planting seeds or transplanting seedlings, as well as watering them regularly until they’re established enough not to need much care anymore (usually around six weeks).

Take A Nature Hike

If you’re a city dweller and have never been on a nature hike, it’s time to change that. Hiking is not just for people who live in the woods; even if your neighborhood park has some trails, they’re worth exploring.

Even if you don’t make it all the way to the top of a mountain or even leave town, hiking may be soothing and enjoyable.

The best part about taking walks outside is that they’re so open-ended – there’s no right way or wrong way to enjoy nature!

You can bring along friends or family members who want to join in on your adventure, take your dog along (make sure he/she knows how long hikes will last), and stop whenever something catches your eye…the possibilities are endless!

Find A Farmers’ Market Near You

Farmers’ markets are a great way to get outdoors and enjoy the spring air. They’re also a great place to find fresh, local food that’s grown by people you know.

If you’re not sure where your nearest farmers’ market is, check out our list of Top NYC Farmer’s Markets.

When choosing which market to visit, look for one that uses organic or GMO-free ingredients (and ask how they source their products if you’re concerned). You can also check out their Facebook page or website; many will have information there about what they do and who they support.

Plan a Picnic

Picnics are a great way to enjoy the outdoors. Whether you’re planning a romantic date or hosting friends for an afternoon meal, there are lots of ways to make your picnic special.

Here are some tips for planning the perfect picnic:

  • Pick a location with a nice view. If possible, find an area where you can see mountains or trees in the distance – it will make your meal more relaxing!
  • Have lots of different food options available so everyone at the picnic can choose what they want.
  • Drink plenty of water throughout the day since it’s easy for dehydration when temperatures rise outside during springtime.

If you’re looking for something more active, there are plenty of outdoor festivals and sporting events happening this spring in NYC, including the Frieze Art Fair, Ninth Avenue International Food Festival, Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit, and more.

Here’s what you need to know about the local events:

What types of events are available? There are tons of outdoor festivals, fairs, and sports tournaments happening all over the country this spring.

How do I find out about local events in my area?  If there’s something specific that interests you – like fishing or hiking – you can often find out about upcoming gatherings by searching online or asking around at local businesses such as bait shops or sporting goods stores.

Or maybe even ask someone who works at one of these places…they might have connections with others who know even more than them!
