This calm 92-acre planned community on the tip of Manhattan is dotted with lush greenery, spectacular views of the Hudson River, and tranquil spots to get up and close with nature.

Battery Park City offers you a much sought-after break from the typical mad rush and din of NYC. Once known for shipping and seaport traffic, BPC is a residential neighborhood featuring modern high-rise apartment buildings. Its casual dining places and bars attract workers from the nearby Financial District during the workweek. On weekends, the neighborhood is brimmed with the locals and visitors.

Here are some spots that will make you love living in Battery Park City.

Asphalt Green:

Asphalt Green beckons families to try its sports and after school program. It is operated by a nonprofit organization that offers swim, fitness, and sports programs to NYC kids and adults. Its programs are available for beginners and professional athletes. Many of their community programs are either free or low cost. Asphalt Green is also known for its summer day camp programs for kids.

Located at the North End Avenue, the presence of Asphalt Green makes Battery Park City a desirable place to live for families.

Nelson A. Rockefeller Park:

Another family friendly place in the neighborhood of BPC!

This riverfront location is a great place for picnicking, playing sports, and lounging. Sitting by the Hudson River, Nelson A. Rockefeller Park is known for its attractive lawn housing jungle gym, sandbox, swings, and carousel. A clubhouse situated over there offers games and equipment during summers. Encircled by the river to the north and west and by high rise buildings to the east, the park was opened in 1992 to offer active and passive recreation. The park also hosts the Children’s Garden where participating kids can grow their own veggies and flowers.

Gymboree Play and Music of Tribeca:

Gymboree Play and Music offers hands-on classes for pre-scholars in music, art, and school skills. The venue is also available for theme parties, kids’ birthday parties, and an open gym. It is operated by Gymboree Play and Music centers that operate in over 700 locations across the globe. Tribeca is considered as most expensive neighborhood in NYC.

The Esplanade:

The Esplanade is a spectacular path that stretches from one point of BPC to another, spanning the Hudson River from the Stuyvesant High School on the North end all the way south to Historic Battery Park. It offers a spectacular view of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the New Jersey shoreline.

Arguably, it is the most striking running route in NYC.

Brookfield Place:

Brookfield Place is your one-stop destination to dine, shop, and immerse in some entertainment. This huge complex is located just south of Tribeca along the Hudson River waterfront.

It was renovated after the attacks of 9/11. It houses some of the international fashion brands such as Hermès, Bottega Veneta and Burberry, Michael Kors, Vince, and Lululemon. Besides, it hoses free weekly music, summer sessions, and morning shows. You can also enjoy the spectacular views of New Jersey and the Hudson River from Brookfield place.

It welcomes the influx of workers coming from Wall Street and the Financial District during weekdays. The weekend sees the area being bustled with many locals and tourists.
