Apartments in the Flatiron District, NY

New York City's Flatiron District, named after the landmark Flatiron Building, is an excellent centrally located neighbhorhood. Residents of this neighbhorhood enjoy easy access to nearby city landmarks and locales thanks to the city’s robust public transportation system.

The Flatiron District is the birthplace of former president Theodore Roosevelt; you can visit the historical landmarker with more information about his childhood home while there.

The Flatiron District was previously home to several toy manufacturers and picture studios. The district's name was changed from "Photo District" or "Toy District" to Flatiron in 1980.

Buildings in the Flatiron District

The Flatiron Building, one of the earliest steel-framed structures in New York City, is the most well-known landmark in the neighborhood. The building, which was built in 1902, has been long regarded as an unsightly eyesore because of its odd design. Some New Yorkers call it a "monstrosity."

Another one of the district's hallmark, and perhaps oldest, skyscrapers is One World Trade Center. It is also one of the city's most photographed buildings. Madison Square Park is also a part of this lively district.
